Yeah, this would have to be at image build time. Anything done from an
instance perspective could help curb start up time slightly (less archives to
unpack) but would not reduce the sheer heft of the image. Not sure of the
value in the latter. Ultimately, work around extensions handling (a la
extension registry or similar) would allow us to start with a smaller kernel
and optionally select what to include.
