Yeah, reviewing history a bit, I think the changes have just kind of moved
to/reverted from two broken states. I think the script would need some work to
support both cases. Combing through the changes, the reason we rolled back was
that this broke the prior state of functionality so the decision was made to
keep things as it was. If we can find a change that satisfies both I am okay
to include this but it seems like we will need to do some work to make the
bootstrap process as well. If anyone has had the time to go through the
various scenarios listed out in this history and verify satisfactory compliance
with the change, those results would be worth including here. Otherwise, I'll
try to take a look but think the proposed path may put us into a similar state
as before.
