I have tried reproducing the bug on Mac and a PC. I have tried the following
steps and could not reproduce the problem as described by Marilyn.

Steps on Mac:

OS: OSX 10.8.2
OO Writer versions: 3.4.1 and 3.5
Email Clients: Gmail, OSX Mail Client 6.2
Document formats used to attach (resume): pdf and odt
Steps:
1. Create resume in Writer
      a. resume with plain text
      b. resume with OLE Object embedded which is another odt document. OLE
Object inserted as a link.
2. Save the document. From within Writer, use menu option File > Send >
Document as Email
      a. Also tried File > Send > Email as PDF
3. Email client Mail 6.2 opens.
4. Send email to an email address which you have access to
5. Logged into a PC with Win 7 Home Premium. This PC Does not have a native
email client. Opened gmail web client using Chrome (v24).
