I have two text documents that I converted from WordPerfect 12 to Word doc files, then opened with Open Office Writer v. 3.4.1. The longer document (236 pages) has the scrolling problem, but the shorter one (8 pages) does not. I can get it to stop by pressing the Fn key and F5 (adjust screen brightness).
