The KDE address book API only supported KDE versions from 3.2 until 3.6, and
3.6 was released in 2008, the OP made this bug report in 2011 when KDE version
was AFTER 3.6, which is why it broke.
It was probably a mistake to ever support address books with such an unstable
API, and we deleted KDE address book support in 2017:
