The .doc file in comment 4 shows equations perfectly, in the latest trunk.

The .docx files in comment 1 and comment 6 however don't. What is the problem?

The comment 1 file, Example 6.docx, seems to draw the equation using textboxes
and graphics.

The comment 6 file, x.docx, draws the equation using elements from the "m"
namespace, for example the top equation starts with "x+a" which is in this
subtree of word/document.xml:
