I am a university professor who teaches online courses for which students must
submit assignments electronically. I have created numerous word documents for
students to complete; these documents consist of text, followed by a text box
into which students must type a response. During the May Term course 2013, for
the first time, I experienced problems with a student submission that was
completed in OpenOffice. If I open the submitted document (re-saved as in Word
format from OpenOffice), numerous entries (i.e., the textboxes) are empty;
however, if I open the same .doc file in OpenOffice, all entries are complete.
As you can imagine this is a *major* issue when submitting documents for graded
assignments, so I hope that this issue can be resolved quickly!
I have attached an example document to facilitate the resolution.
