I got a Word 2003 document which won't open with AOO 4.0 snapshots (1496831).
It opens fine with AOO 3.4.1 and MS Word 2003.
The error message is "read error error reading file" (could be more
meaningful). The progress bar does show with 0 progress and the file gets
locked (can only opened in read mode by other instances or programs).
The file had some tables, images and linked Excel 2003 diagrams and tables. I
removed every content one by one to see what's the cause of the problem. It
turns out I could remove everything and still get the error. So the attached
file shows a blank document in MS Word 2003 and AOO 3.4.1
