When applying Data -> Subtotals to a sorted selected range in a spreadsheet the
Sum for the first group does not include the first numerical item in the group
so the subtotal for that group is wrong. The Grand Sum is also incorrect.
This bug can be "defeated" by adding an empty row at the top of the selected
range but one only arrives at this "solution" if one has (accidentally in my
case) discovered that the subtotal is incorrect.
Because this calculation fault is not immediately apparent it destroys
confidence in a spreadsheet program that may be used for business-critical
decisions.
This bug has been reported previously but there are no signs of resolution and
in one report it is described as Trivial (which it isn't).
