Bug ID: 123023
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Dictionaries are not found when OO 4.0.0 not installed
to C: drive
Product: General
Version: 4.0.0
Hardware: PC
OS: Windows XP
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: scripting
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
I installed 4.0.0 to my E drive. (E:\Documents and Settings\wrigh\Application
Data\OpenOffice\)
In use (e.g. Writer) all words were flagged as mis-spells.
Dictionaries, eg EN_GB.dic, were found in the expected folder i.e.
E:\Documents and Settings\wrigh\Application
Data\OpenOffice\4\user\uno_packages\cache\uno_packages\sv7bc88.tmp_\dict-en.oxt
I found that OO 4.0.0 had created a C: folder
C:\Documents and Settings\wrigh\Application
Data\OpenOffice\4\user\uno_packages\ and was using it (or some sub folder) for
a log file.
I copied
E:\Documents and Settings\wrigh\Application
Data\OpenOffice\4\user\uno_packages\cache + subfolders to
C:\Documents and Settings\wrigh\Application
Data\OpenOffice\4\user\uno_packages\
Open Office then found the dictionaries and the spellings disappeared.
Conclusion: OO 4.0.0 always looks for dictionaries (and possibly other data) in
the C: drive
Comments: this was an install from scratch.
There will be problems if OO 4.0.0 is installed on, say, a SSD drive.
I expect this to apply to thesaurus
