            Bug ID: 123025
        Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Very Long File Save Times in OO v. 4.0.0
           Product: General
           Version: 4.0.0
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Windows 7
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: major
          Priority: P3
         Component: ui
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]

After upgrading OO from 3.4.1 to 4.0.0 my file save times have more than
quadrupled. I work primarily with Writer (updating a 34-page, 442KB journal
document) and Calc (updating a 12-sheet, 1 MB workbook of financial data).
Both documents are saved frequently, owing to the important nature of their
contents.

I didn't time my file saves under 3.4.1, but under 4.0.0 the Calc workbook save
consistently takes 90 seconds - a minute and a half - whether I'm saving it to
a cloud drive or the local C: drive. The Writer document save is also
noticeably longer.

Some of the software demographics involved:

Apache Open Office 4.0.0 installed 8/8/2013
  AOO400m3(Build9702) Rev. 1503704 2013-07-16 14:54:56

Windows 7 Home Premium w/Service Pack 1 installed (original OS) on a Hewlett
Packard Pavilion dv7 17-inch notebook, running an AMD N950 Quad-Core at 2.10
GHz, with 4 GB RAM.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 distributable 10.0.30319 installed 6/5/13
   (plus many earlier 9.0 distributables)

Java 7 Update 25 v.7.0.250 32- and 64-bit installed 6/30/2013

My thanks to all of the Open Office team for such a wonderful product, and for
all the new 4.0 improvements. Unless I can significantly improve my long file
save times, though, I'll have to give them up and revert to 3.4.1 to get any
work done.
