Type 1 fonts that have not .afm file, are never avaliable in OOo.
For example, on my Debian system, URW Chancery L font is in this case but is
found in this files :
/usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts/z003034l.pfb exists.
A symbolic link on this file is in
/usr/share/fonts/X11/Type1/. But the file
/usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts/z003034l.afm is not linked in this directory.
If I remove the links in /usr/share/fonts/X11/Type1/, all fonts are avaliable
because OOo does not see duplicated fonts.
This is a regression in OOo 4.0.0 fixed in LibreOffice 3.5.2.
