--- Comment #4 from [email protected] --- On the system where I saw the problem, I uninstalled AOO again, then removed all the folders related to the program including the application data folder for users. I then reinstalled AOO and everything was fine. During my search on the web for some clue as to what happened, I did find an old posting from 2004 in the OpenOffice.org forum in which the file "common.xcu" was identified as causing a problem with loading OpenOffice. Renaming the file and allowing OpenOffice to recreate it worked to fix the issue. I don't know whether that would have worked in this present case, but it might. The file "common.xcu" does exist in the application data folder for the users in Apache OpenOffice 4.0, so that has not changed through the years.
