--- Comment #6 from [email protected] --- Another description of the circumstances, 1) given a paragraph (any string that is preceded by a new-line and is succeeded by a new-line) 2) if there is at least one custom character that is already anchored as character somewhere in the paragraph 3) where the custom character was previously a combination of two or more images in Draw that were grouped, copied to clipboard, and pasted in Writer, before being relatively positioned and anchored as character in Writer (examples of these custom characters in the original document include all instances of the subset, <=, and >= symbols) 4) and if there is either a character that is of a different typeface than the typeface of the majority of the paragraph or a character that is in subscript or in superscript 5) and a character of any of these types is deleted by either Backspace or Delete 6) and an arrow key is pressed to begin moving the cursor elsewhere 7) then the whole paragraph becomes invisible (except the objects in the paragraph that are either anchored-to- or anchored-as-characters) 8) and to make it become visible again it's required to do either a scroll out and back in of the invisible or an F2 press twice. There might of course be workflows that achieve the desired outcomes but that avoid the exact circumstances that cause the bad effect (which happens acutely often in the context of the original document). But that could involve more work than even the extra steps of scrolling or pressing a distant button twice. Some strings are copied and pasted to save time because a single string could involve multiple typefaces and formats. It's also typical to copy a string and paste it in a new place, not for its character order but for some or all of the characters it consists of that would otherwise require a lot of mouse actions or a lot more keyboard strokes to get on-the-fly (the way they were initially gotten). And this is where it's just most efficient (or least just most comfortable) with such a string to modify it, if it's not the original string in need of correction, all too often under the circumstances that cause the aberration. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
