Hello fellow AOO appreciators,
I happily used AOO 3.4.1 under both OS X 10.6.8 and 10.8.4. I very recently
upgraded to 10.8.5 and may have used AOO 4.0.1 successfully under that 10.8.5
update ( I use AOO infrequently).
Yesterday (7 October), I downloaded 2 non Mac OS X upgrades, as notified
automatically by Mac "App Store" software. I can't find what they actually
were but I downloaded/auto installed them.
Very soon after, I had occasion to open a 'Calc' file whilst setting up an
account with a new 'online' supplier via Safari browser. When I set up a new
supplier account, I always open my "Orders/Logins" Calc file so I can enter the
new details into that file as I enter them with the potential supplier,
enabling me to readily record all necessary details to contact the supplier in
future dealings.
I clicked the AOO 4.0.1 icon and AOO opened momentarily but quit immediately.
I tried again several times, with all attempts failing immediately. I recorded
my new supplier's account details separately, then quit Safari browser.
I went to my system's "Applications" folder and moved AOO 4.0.1 to the trash. I
then clicked the superseded AOO 4.0 icon which then opened, STAYED open and
performed as it usually does - speedily and without glitches or hassles.
Have any other Mac based AOO 4.0.1 users experienced similar problems? If so,
perhaps going back to the sterling AOO 4.0 version may help them. I hope this
is reassuring to fellow Mac users, if applicable.
