Yes, attachment shows the difference if you move the circle shape so that half
covers page background, half the rectangle shape behind the circle.

I do not know a way to define "Use background filling for shape filling" in
AOO, but in other software like SoftMaker FreeOffice and probably PowerPoint
there are different shape background properties "Background" and "None". This
seems to be the core of the problem, the affected shape has area property
"Background", what does not exist in AOO. And that's the root where the fix
works, see Comment 7 
"... "useBgFill" ..." (sounds like "Use Background Filling")
