Rob Brown <[email protected]> --- This word count issue is perplexing. Here's my scenario. I run OpenOffice 4.01 on both my laptop and my desktop. I e-mail my .doc file back and forth between the two computers. The word count is different every time and not by just some trivial amount. Example 1: Total document count. Laptop amount (I typed this into the document before sending): 35,101 words Desktop amount (when I went to verify that number): 34,324 words Somehow almost 1,000 words just disappeared in the count... but they are all right there in the document. Example 2: Selection word count. Laptop amount (I measured this from just the most recent chapter of that same document, which I'm still writing): 1,011 words Desktop amount (when I went to verify that number): 983 words So, what gives? If this thing can't give me accurate word counts, it's a worthless feature.
