The behavior of the printer settings dialog seems to be inconsistent. On some
systems, the print parameters will save, while on other systems they always
revert back to the defaults. Test cases are shown below.

I have successfully replicated this bug using the following:

OpenOffice 4.0.1 – AOO401m5 (Build:9714) on Windows 7 Home Premium, Version 6.1
(Build 7601: Service Pack 1). Printer: HP Deskjet F4500

Steps to Reproduce (These may vary depending on the printer being used):
0. Start a new OpenOffice Writer document with some random text
1. Click File>Print or CTRL+P
2. Click the Properties button on the General tab, then click the Features tab
(see attachment AOO401_Screenshots).
3. Change the settings shown in the attached screenshot
4. Click OK and print the document
5. Check the printer settings by following steps 1 through 2

Expected Result: The printer settings should retain the changes made during the
first print job
Actual Result: All settings are returned to their defaults with the exception
of the “Print in Grayscale” option

OpenOffice 3.3.0 - OOO330m20 (Build:9567) on Windows 7 Enterprise, Version 6.1
(Build 7601: Service Pack 1). Printer: KONICA MINOLTA C650 Series PCL

Steps to Reproduce (These may vary depending on the printer being used):
0. Start a new OpenOffice Writer document with some random text
1. Click File>Print or CTRL+P
2. Click the Properties button on the General tab, then click the Quality tab
(see attachment OOO330_Screenshots).
3. Change the settings shown in the attached screenshot
4. Click OK and print the document
5. Check the printer settings by following steps 1 through 2

Expected Result: The printer settings should retain the changes made during the
first print job
Actual Result: ALL settings are returned to their defaults

OpenOffice 4.0.1 – AOO401m5 (Build:9714) on Windows 7 Enterprise, Version 6.1
(Build 7601: Service Pack 1). Printer: Dell 5230N

Steps to Reproduce – Similar to those listed above. Changed print setting to
Landscape and it reverted back to Portrait after printing the document.

I was UNABLE to replicate this bug with the following:

OpenOffice 4.0.1 – AOO401m5 (Build:9714) on Windows 7 Enterprise, Version 6.1
(Build 7601: Service Pack 1). Printer: KONICA MINOLTA C650 Series PCL

The same test steps were followed on this machine and the printer setting
changes were always saved after printing.

Follow-up tests and other observations:

*Both MS Word 2007 and 2010 retain the print options changes, while OpenOffice
Writer does not
*Saving the OpenOffice Writer file as .ODT had no impact on the test results
*Making changes to the text in the OpenOffice Writer file before re-printing
had no impact on the test results.
*CTRL+P and File>Print provide the same test results
*I was unable to find any similar bugs in Bugzilla for this problem.
