--- Comment #5 from Kim Tidwell <[email protected]> ---
I was unable to replicate this behavior exactly. The original configuration
was using a PC Linux OS, and a former version (1.0.2) of OpenOffice, which I
did not have available to me.

I used a Windows XP machine with version 4.0.1, AOO401m5(Build:9714) - Rev.
1524958 2013-09-20 11:40:29 (Fr, 20 Sep 2013).

In an attempt to replicate the bug with this version I used these steps:
1. Opened a new page in Writer (Letter 8 ½ x 11 was the default page layout)
2. Went to the tool bar at top and selected Format > Page
3. Selected Landscape (Protrait was the default)
4. Typed several paragraphs
5. Selected Print and was able to view the Preview

Changing the format to Landscape gave me a view that did appear like a big box
rather than Letter size page layout. If the Linux OS does not have a default
page layout setting, this would frustrate a new user. Line breaks would appear
and print different in this format since the text spans across the page
horizontally rather than vertically.

Next I tried to find Help information regarding Format and Page layout using
the following steps:

1. Go to Help at the top of the Writer tool bar
2. Select OpenOffice Help, OpenOffice Help – Writer dialog box opens
3. Select 'Contents – The Main Help Topics'
4. Available topics are: The OpenOffice Help Window; Help Agent, Tips and
Extended Tips; Index – Keyword Search in Help; Find – The Full-text Search; and
Managing Bookmarks. See attachment 1.

There is no topic dealing with tool bar options. The user is stuck in a loop
of these available topics. There is no obvious link to the OpenOffice Help
'First Page' menu unless you happen to know that is the little house icon at
the top of the Writer Help dialog box (see attachment 2). That main menu in
the First Page is where a user can find help topics dealing with this kind of a
formatting question.

A suggested fix would be to have an additional link in the 'Contents – Main
Help Topics', or to have the OpenOffice Help default to the First Page menu.
