Assume then that applying the Data -> Filter -> Autofilter action defaults to a range of the contents of the entire column of data--and that it should probably not be a pasteable or fillable attribute for any but the first cell value of that column where it is now shown by default. The Data -> Filter -> Standard filter has a "More options" check-box asking if the selected range contains "column lables", so the concept of isolating the first row of a column to serve as its label already is in place.
