Maybe your Win registry have a problem. Maybe you run a program that prevents changing the associations. File associations can be set for all users or for the current user. Please try to deinstall AOO and reset the associations. With a reinstall AOO should associate the right file types. If this will be without success please ask for help at the users mailing list.
