This bug was tested using AOO v 4.1.0 on an HP HDX16 machine running a Windows
7, 64 bit OS. The bug as reported could not be reproduced. Attached is the test
save document which, in its final run, was 23 pages long and included text,
tables and images. The detailed test cases are documented in the test document
and include:

  • Save after retrieval
  • Save of a short and long document
  • Saving of the following file types: .odt, .ott, .doc (MS 97/2000/XP, MS 95,
MS 6.0), .txt
  • Saving via the File menu options, the Save button and the shortcut
  • Saving after leaving the document open for multiple hours
  • Saving after retrieval via an email attachment in a different AOO version
  • Saving to an empty disk drive

As this bug has been unable to be recreated by a few folks on a few different
machines, it would be helpful to have the following additional information to
help with the solution:

  1. Please confirm the OS and Open Office version being used when you
experienced this problem.
  2. Did you create this document in a previous Open Office version and are now
saving it in newer/different version? On a different OS?
  3. Original steps followed to recreate this bug.
  4. Please attach the original (or similar) file you have been unable to save.
  5. Do you get an error message at the time of failure? If so, what is the
exact message and can you attach any crash reports/dump files that may be
created at the time the crash occurs?
  6. Other key things that we might want know to recreate this bug (ex: Are you
attempting to save this file to an unavailable drive? What are/where you saving
to (ex: CD, flash drive)? What other programs may be running? What may be
contained or linked in your document?)

Answers to these additional questions will also help us to understand if your
experience is similar to other reported bugs.
