Try with other applications, for example

* Gnome Terminal.
Go to menu Edit - Preferences, or Edit - Profile Preferences.
* Gedit
Menu Search - Replace; Tools - Document Statistics
These windows don't hava a Close button on the titlebar.

This seems to be the correct native look&feel, at least when the dialog has a
"Close" button (may be gnome developers thought it was redundant to add also a
"Close" titlebar button).

Most floating windows in OpenOffice display a small closer button; for example
the Navigator, when undocked; or the floating windows when selection a color in
the formatting toolbar (font/highlight/background color), the undocked Gallery,
the D Effects on Draw/Impress.
