--- Comment #3 from Sandra <[email protected]> --- After further review, I was able to replicate this bug in OO version 4.0.1 on a windows 7 O/S. There is a dependency to install a spanish dictionary extension to recreate this bug. Steps to intall configuration dependency in OpenOffice is outlined below: 1) Choose Tools/Language/More Dictionaries Online (this will launch the dictionaries page in your default web browser). 2) Select the Spanish Dictionary in the list of descriptions (click the heading) 3) In the next page, click the Get It icon to download the dictionary extension. Note the folder name to which your browser downloads the file. 4) In OpenOffice, choose Tools - Extension Manager and click Add to install the downloaded extensions. 5) After you installed the extensions, close OpenOffice (including the Quickstarter), and restart. Steps to Recreate the bug: 1) Once the Spanish dictionary extension is installed, Launch OpenOffice, “Writer” module 2) Under Tools/Options/Language Settings/Languages, Set Spanish (Spain) in following fields: a) Locale settings b) Defualt currancy c) Western 3) Copy/Paste this sentence “Es un proceso natural que siempre ha ocurrido o es un problema y es necesario ilegalizar a los inmigrantes? 4) The spanish word “ilegalizar” is flagged as misspelled or grammatical error 5) Right click on flagged word, select "Spelling and Grammer" to open the "Spelling: Spanish (Spain) pop-up window. 6) Review the data in the "Suggestions" box *Please Note: Translations for “Suggestions” data values are below: legalizar which translates to “legalize” ilegal izar which is a legitament translations to “illegal to raise or host” ilegal-izar (hypenated) Does NOT translate per online translation tools On-line Spanish to English translator tools to review translations: a) http://www.spanishdict.com/translate/ilegal-izar b) https://translate.google.com/#es/en c) http://www.wordreference.com/es/en/ Translating the spanish sentence and how the word, “ilegalizar” is used within the spanish context, translates to English as: It is a natural process that has always happened or is a problem and it is necessary to outlaw immigrants. Comparing functinoality to Microsoft Office, Spanish language settings does NOT flag "Ilegalizar" as a misspelled or grammatical error. Microsoft Office can process the use of this word, in another language without issue. OpenOffice can not. Follow-up questions on the integrity of the dictionary: 1) Why is “ilegal-izar” (hypenated) in the OO dictionary when there is no translation? 2) Should this by hyphenated (or not)? 3) Why is “ilegalizar” as one word not in the OO dictionary (this is a legitament spanish word that translates to "outlaw")? 4) Is OO flagging "ilegalizar" as a spelling error or as a gramatical issue?
