AOO 4.1.0, Windows 7, tried: - open .xls file in Calc - make changes - File, Save As..., file_name.xls, Save as type: ODF Spreadsheet(.ods)(*.ods) - Automatic file name extension is checked by default - hit Save - no problem...document saved under file name file_name.ods Also tried: - File, Save As..., file_name.xls, place cursor manually on file name area - change manually the extension to .ods while Save as type: Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP (.xls)(*.xls) is selected by default - Automatic file name extension is checked by default - hit Save - gives dialog box: This document may contain formatting...in Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP file format.
