This file is one file that I am unable to open from File Explorer, but which
opens from the "open" dialogue in OO
Hi friends,
Running Open Office 4.1.0 on Windows 8.1, 64 bit.
I have had this problem with previous editions of OL, as well as Office Libre
4.3, running on other Windows 8 and 8.1 computers. Here’s the problem:
1. Click on a file in File Explorer (always a file created by someone else, on
another computer--can be .odt, .doc, .xls).
2. An OO process opens (seen in the task manager). It keeps on running, but the
file never opens. It eats up 30% of processor function.
3. Click again, another OO process opens, but the file still won’t open. Now
60% of processor function is used.
4. Close processes in task manager.

5. Open OO, '
6. go to file—>open,
7. navigate to the location of the file
8. open the file no problem.
As this happens with both Open Office and Office Libre, on two separate
machines running Windows 8, I feel it is something with Windows 8. Surprised
not to find others reporting this issue.
