Try to open any file located on an HTTPS enabled server, for example
https://people.apache.org/~arielch/CustomShapeTutorial.odt
The document cannot be opened, you get an error box:
Error reading data from the Internet.
Server error message:.
Same error while checking for extension update, if the update feed is retrieved
via HTTPS; for example, install
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/mri-uno-object-inspection-tool
The update file is https://raw.github.com/hanya/MRI/master/files/MRI.update.xml
Note: this is reproducible on Fedora 21
