Adina Moldovan <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] --- Comment #2 from Adina Moldovan <[email protected]> --- Hi, I think I found the reproduction steps for this issue. My configuration is: - Windows 7 SP1 on 64-bit - Open Office 4.1.1 (AOO411m6 Build 9775, 1617669) The issue appears to be that OpenOffice Document Recovery is displayed each time OpenOffice is opened with no useful result (Recovery Status: Failed), when a document got in a recovery state and it is not found anymore on the disk at the expected path. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Purpose of the following sub-steps: make a document appear in the 'OpenOffice Document Recovery' 1a. Open an existing document (I used a .txt with little text in it, e.g "Lorem ipsum") 2a. Do some updates in the document (I wrote the text "rerere" at the end of the existing one) 2c. Force OpenOffice to end without clicking any button like "Save", "Discard" or "Cancel" (I started the Task Manager -> Applications and chose the task containing the document's name -> clicked End Task. Then I waited up to 10 seconds for a window to appear with the title "End program - (name_of_file) - OpenOffice Writer". On that window I chose the option "End now") 2c'. (check) Open OpenOffice again (at this point you should see the document in the OpenOffice Document Recovery window) 2c''. (check) Start recovery (recovery should have the status "Successful" in the Recovery window table) 2d. Close OpenOffice 2. Delete or move the file somewhere else on the physical harddrive, so that OpenOffice won't find it anymore 3. Open OpenOffice (you should see the document in the OpenOffice Document Recovery window) 4. Start recovery (an error should be displayed and the recovery fails. A new blank document is displayed) 5. Close OpenOffice, open it again and start recovery (At this point the recovery status is "Failed" and again a new blank document is displayed) 6. Repeat step 5. EXPECTED RESULT: when a document's recovery fails one time (or maybe a number of times), it shouldn't be displayed anymore in the "OpenOffice Document Recovery". Displaying it there with no useful result as recovery fails, means one extra step each time a user opens Open Office. This leads to more time spent to get to use the application, not to mention that at a certain point it becomes very annoying. Please take into account that the action of deleting or moving the location of a file on the physical hard disk is a common operation, thus increasing the risk on getting in this situation. ACTUAL RESULT: when a document's recovery fails one time, it looks that it will be displayed in the "OpenOffice Document Recovery" each time OpenOffice is opened. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the issue.
