To clarify hopefully: * I am running an iMac under OS X 10.10.2 (14C109) * I am using Apache OpenOffice 4.1.1 * Java Version 8 Update 11 is installed It appears that some features in this configuration of OpenOffice require Java 6, which is no longer available. An example can be seen when creating a new database. A message referring to "soffice" appears and OpenOffice quits unexpectedly.
