a screenshot example of faulty line spacing
Sometimes OpenOffice word processor seems to have to idea what single-spaced
paragraph format is supposed to look like. I have attached a screen shot of a
document that I was typing to show you the massive spacing that "single
spacing" sometimes results in. This is obviously not correct. I even tried a
few different fonts in case it was just some font that adds a bunch of extra
unwanted space, but that does not seem to be the issue. I hope you can get to
the bottom of this so that formatting word processing documents can become more
intuitive and controllable. Thanks!

ps. I tried 3 times to attach a file as an example, but I see no evidence that
