messages log
Product Version = NetBeans IDE 8.0.2 (Build 201411181905)
Operating System = Linux version 3.16.0-38-generic running on amd64
Java; VM; Vendor = 1.8.0_45
Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 25.45-b02
OS: Ubuntu 14.04
Memory: 16GB
Apache OpenOffice is installed in the default location with no reported
problems at Tools -> Options -> Miscellaneous -> Apache OpenOffice Settings
NetBeans OpenOffice Plugin Configuration
Apache OpenOffice Installation: /opt/openoffice4/program
Apache OpenOffice SDK Installation: /opt/openoffice4/sdk
Selecting New Project -> Apache OpenOffice -> Apache OpenOffice Client
Application -> Next produces a similar dialog with the same settings and the
error message:
"The selected Apache OpenOffice installation directory is not valid!"
Navigating to /opt/openoffice4/program and double-clicking soffice starts
OpenOffice, so the installation appears to be valid.
LibreOffice, which is included by default in Ubuntu 14.04, was completely
removed prior to installing OpenOffice. I should add that a similar
configuration on a Windows 7, AMD 64-bit system runs without problems.
