Try this: Open your OpenOffice 3.1 (using any way that you do that). On the menu strip, click Tools | Options In the Options dialog sidebar, click Memory. In the panel for Memory, *remove* the check under OpenOffice Quickstarter, "Load OpenOffice during system start-up" Close OpenOffice Restart your system. Now try the install.
