select text in OpenOffice 4.1.2
use Table/Convert/Text to Table...
often times, this does not work as it should
because
there are hidden characters in the text, maybe inherited from another text
editor
or there are hidden character font and size changes in the text
what to do :
select the text
and
paste it into notepad
be sure it displays properly in notepad
then select and copy the same text in notepad
and
paste it back into the OpenOffice document
try Table/Convert/Text to Table... again
this often corrects the conversion issue !
needed in OpenOffice Writer : a hidden character filter applied to the Text
before being converted to Table
