Theodore had managed to replicate the original problem by copy and paste the first paragraph at bottom of document then changing the font sie to 14 and applying the bold and italic. That document was my attempt at those steps with Windows 7. I agree that it sounds more like a rendering issue. At this point. Given that Theodore was able to duplicate the original problem I am leaning towards setting this as confirmed.
