Since the content.xml file is compressed on disk, the defect could be anywhere, including in the decompression operation. Assuming the persistent form of the document is of file-type .ods, the integrity of the Zip format used can be checked using 7-zip or WinZip. If those see no defect, we can assume it was introduced during the file save operation and not later. Also, it would be useful to know what the latest confirmation version is.
