These scripts do run in an English-language Windows XP, but the change to code page 1252 has no effect, so the extended characters used for German do not appear correctly. This is an improvement over the Unicode cases, which cause the scripts to fail. These scripts should appear properly on a Windows XP that is installed with German as the operating-system language. 1. If someone has a German Windows XP, please confirm that running these scripts produces correct characters. 2. If (1) is successful, the German README may need to warn users that on non-German Windows XP configurations, the extended characters used for German may not appear properly.
