I tested this on Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 16.04 both using version 4.1.0 of open office. Steps I took to replicate on both systems: 1. copied the first 500 words from this word list into a document with Times New Roman Font to replicate a written document. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dwyl/english-words/master/words.txt 2. Tried both the “Export” and “Export as PDF” under the file tab. 3. Attempted a large combination of settings exporting to the name “Untitled 1” which were all successful. Settings tested: a. PDF/A-1a on with JPEG compression b. PDF/A-1a on with JPEG compression export bookmarks c. PDF/A-1a on with JPEG compression export bookmarks, export comments d. PDF/A-1a on with JPEG compression export bookmarks, export comments, embed this doc in pdf e. PDF/A-1a on with Lossless compression f. PDF/A-1a on with Lossless compression export bookmarks g. PDF/A-1a on with Lossless compression export bookmarks, export comments h. PDF/A-1a on with Lossless compression export bookmarks, export comments, embed this doc in pdf i.
