--- Comment #2 from Stephen L'Allier <[email protected]> ---
I was unable to successfully replicate the bug as described in the report. I
attempted to replicate the bug in versions 4.1.0 and version 4.1.1 of Apache
OpenOffice. Below I have listed my test machine specification, procedure for
testing, and some other tests I used to try to replicate the issue.

NOTE: The original report mentioned the bug occurred in version 4.1.0 and 4.11,
but I could not find a version 4.11. Therefore, I presumed that the second
version was actually 4.1.1.

Test Machine Specifications

AOO Version: 4.1.0 & 4.1.1
CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7870
RAM: 8 GB DDR4
OS: Windows 10 w/ Anniversary Update

Steps taken to attempt replication of the failure

1. Download AOO Writer 4.1.0.
2. Download document (“Mars, Ho!”) with the Thai chapter title attached to
original bug report.
3. Open AOO Writer.
4. Open document (“Mars, Ho!”)
5. Locate chapter with Thai characters – Chapter 19
6. Assess whether the chapter title characters are shown correctly or not.
7. Repeat steps 3-6 with AOO Writer 4.1.1.

These were the closest steps to what was listed in the bug report. I was unable
to replicate the bug with the above steps.

Follow-up testing and investigation

The bug report mentions the bug occurred at the same time as another bug in
which all words were marked as misspelled. Additionally, it mentions that the
“marked as misspelled” bug was “covered elsewhere here.” I took that to mean
there was a bug report filed in the AOO Writer database. I attempted to find a
report for that bug (from before 2014-09-18, the date of this bug report). I
used keywords such as “misspelled,” “spellcheck,” and “marked” to find related
reports. None of the reports described a bug where all words were being
mistakenly marked as misspelled.

However, I recently worked on a bug report that mentioned a corrupted
“registrymodifications.xcu” file causing issues with the Styles and Formatting
dialog box, backups, and spellchecker. I tracked down a report where the
spellchecker issue was described, and it said that spellchecker was marking all
words as misspelled. It noted that this occurred when AOO was using a corrupted
“registrymodifications.xcu” file, but only mentioned renaming the uno_packages
directory to cause the bug to occur.

With this new information, I attempted to replicate the bug again – this time
using the corrupted “registrymodifications.xcu” from Issue 127157 and also
after renaming the uno_packages directory as mentioned in Issue 126762. I
followed the exact same steps as listed above, but with the addition of the two
things mentioned previously. Even so, I was unable to reproduce the Thai
chapter title bug described in this report, but I did reproduce the
spellchecker bug.

I have attached four screenshots – the Thai chapter title in AOO Writer 4.1.0,
4.1.1, with the corrupted “registrymodifications.xcu” file, and after renaming
the uno_packages directory. Finally, as I was unable to replicate this bug,
even with additional tests, I am unable to mark this as Confirmed.
