if you create a new document in writer, insert a diagramm and set the object
size to 5 cm x 5 cm, then you can select the object/diagramm and see the object
size in the status bar. The size is beeing shown as "1.97 x 1.97". 1.97 inch is
roughly equal to 5 cm.
Attachments of a sample file and a screenshot will follow later because
currently open office is bussy calculating itself to death and is not
responding.
