Issue ID: 127643
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Calc not responding.
Product: Calc
Version: 4.1.5
Hardware: PC
OS: Windows 7
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 (lowest)
Component: open-import
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
In my particular case, the issue is only happening in version 4.1.5. In fact,
the issue does not exist in previous versions, so I have installed version
4.1.4 as a temporary fix.
This problem was discovered with an ods document, but in my efforts to resolve
the issue, I discovered that it also occurs on xls and xlsx spreadsheets.
For some spreadsheets, the program hangs during the open process. The program
does not hang, if I just execute the program whereby a blank spreadsheet named
"untitled" is loaded. The program will also open select spreadsheets. However,
I have two known spreadsheets that do not open. These spreadsheets have
multiple tabs and formulas contained within them. I have also recently added
two new tabs to one of the affected spreadsheet. Whenever opening any of the
affected spreadsheet, the program immediately goes into a "not responding"
state.
I am able to close the unresponsive program by pressing the red "X" (close
window) button on the upper right corner of the window. After pressing the red
button, I get the usual window with the three standard handling options. I
tried the first two (close) with the same result. However, I did not see any
sense in selecting "waiting for the program to respond," so I just "close[d]
the program."
The problem is not localized on any one machine. I have version 4.1.5 installed
on multiple Windows 7 machines with the same issue. Ironically, the attached
spreadsheet can be opened with Libre Office and OO version 4.1.4, so it's not
the spreadsheet. Also, saving the program with either 4.1.4 or Libre does not
resolve the issue.
The problem is reproducible. I am happy to share the document with Apache, but
I would appreciate that the document be secured during investigation and
deleted completely after debugging work is complete. The data is my
out-of-pocket expenses for my clients, so it is semi-sensitive information and
not for display to the general Bugzilla audience. I am having an identical
problem with another spreadsheet.
Please contact me separately to obtain the beleaguered spreadsheet - Again, I
don't want to attach it here to avoid making it available to the general
Bugzilla community.
Thanks,
Frankie
