           Product: Writer
           Version: 4.1.6
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Windows 10

          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

Since I'm using my new laptop with windows 10 I'm constantly experiencing a
crash down of OO (which I've been using for my phd thesis for the last 5
years).
Yesterday I tried to generate the crash down to see if there is a clear
action-reaction, I mean a clear identifiable cause and that's what I could
observe:

1) Basically OO crashes when I make Copy&Paste into an OO Writer file (length
between 50 and 200 pages, depending on the file). At the beginning I always had
several OO files open at the same time and I thought this was a relevant point,
then I did the last test with only one file open and could cause the crash
anyway

2) The OO-files contains only text. At the beginning I experienced the crashes
with files containing mainly tables, but I also did a test with a file with no
table and it still crashed

3) I have now been able to trigger the crash 3 times in a row by copying the
following random text several times (once 10 times in a row, once approx. 15
times and the third time only 3 times) into the file:
"Development Theory and Practice in a Changing World
7.4 1st Edition
7.4.1.1 By Pádraig Carmody
routine
248 pages | 14 B/W Illus."

You can't see it here, the text contains two hyperlinks (comes from this
website: https://www.routledge.com/Development-T ... 1138551787)

4) After the 3rd crash the opened file didn't suddenly close by itself, but the
program got frozen and I had to end it via task manager

5) After this third crash I repeated the same procedure, but could not cause a
crash! The fourth time I copied the text (as above) a hundred times in a row
and OO crashed again. I restored the files and copied the text again and the
file crashed relatively fast again.

6) I had the feeling that the hyperlinks in the text I copied in could play a
role, but then I got the crash down with a C&P from a text without hyperlinks
and it crashed right away!

7) After the last crash I looked in the task manager and saw that OO was still
among the running apps (with 108.6 mb RAM).

8) Basically, I noticed that when OO is about to crash it first gets slower
(when you copy sth the wheel spins longer) and the it becomes more and more
"unresponsive", e.g. I try to mark a line and nothing happens. In these moments
I also notice that the PC gets louder, like it's working a lot...

I don't know if the description can be of any help, but the problem ist really
critical to me because I can no longer work on my thesis under these
conditions. I hope the problem can somehow be identified...

Thanks!
