Create a text. 2. Add footnote at end of paragraph (Insert-->Footnote) using ** as the numbering. 3. Save in Word 97/2000/XP (.doc) format 4. Open .doc file 5. Repeat the steps 2 to 4 with other specials chars i.e. @@ &$ Actual Result: * Observe that the cursor is not placed just after the second *, but apparently inserts few blank spaces between ** and the cursor After Save The second character in the footnote number is moved to the right by approximately one space.
