Marton Elek commented on HDDS-3367:
-----------------------------------
Thanks the answer [~prashantpogde] .
As a reminder: the meeting is informal, the archive is ephemeral. Any important
decision should be forwarded to the mailing list (or written to the Jira which
is forwarded to the mailing list, but the mailing list has higher visibility).
{quote}> acknowledging the fact that there has not been much activity on
HDDS-2416 in last 1 year
{quote}
I can see activity comment activity here:
[~cxorm] uploaded a design doc to HDDS-4307, [~MatthewSharp] commented it and
started a thread on the mailing list. As far as I see there are multiple,
recent interest here, and this design doc is uploaded only after the meeting.
I think it would be great to clarify the current plan: give a quick update on
the mailing thread, ask feedback and move on when everybody is on the same
side. Based on the feedback of the meeting it seems to be easy to get any
consensus as everybody was very open.
But I think (in my apache hat) that we can improve the transparency here, with
1-2 more email and requesting feedback.
{quote}> has already completed this feature that is in extension of HDFS trash
policy feature
{quote}
You mean there is a proof of concept, a local branch somewhere? Or is it
already merged to the master? Is it the code shared?

> The aim of this jira to add the trash feature capability in ozone that will
> help prevent accidental deletion of files and directories. When a file gets
> deleted in Ozone, the file is not immediately expelled from Ozone but will be
> moved to trash. Similarly as in HDFS, to immediately delete a file, a
> skipTrash option will be provided. The jira also aims to integrate the Ozone
> FS Trash to the Trash API developed as a part of HDDS-2416.
