Marton Elek commented on HDDS-4904:
-----------------------------------

> You cannot declare support for a new feature as part of a docs restructuring
> jira with zero community discussion

We had community discussion. All the CSI patches and the documentation patch is
properly reviewed based on the community rules. I remember that we had
discussions about the doc patch because we had a debate about the usage of AWS
S3 icon. There were no concerns about CSI parts.

> You cannot declare support...

Well, I think mainly the vendors can declare support. Apache Ozone should
define the maturity of different features and clarify what can be expected.

> While it won't be practical to revert the entire change, I am going to post a
> patch to remove mention of CSI support.

I started a mail thread on dev mailing list. Let's discuss the required steps
first there.

Thank you.

> The Ozone website prominently mentions CSI support:
> Our docs give a false impression to users that CSI is fully functional and
> supported for persistent storage inside containers.
> This support uses goofys+S3 gateway, so it is not appropriate for any serious
> usage. A real CSI solution should use an approach like the cBlocks prototype
> by building directly on top of HDDS containers with a real device driver.
> Until that time we should not claim CSI support. Alternatively we should be
> honest with our users that it is a prototype and not suitable for serious
> usage.
