Description:
This is more like a brain dump, but there were a few great ideas being thrown
out during today's community sync, so I wanted the capture the chatter here:
# The community has been implementing the S3 Lifecycle management feature
HDDS-8342 and a design doc was posted.
# One great addition that we should consider implementing is offload the
management of S3 object lifecycles from the leader OM to the follower (or
perhaps a listener OM, per HDDS-11523)
# The leader would need to assign one of the followers to execute the task,
and to monitor the status of the follower, making sure it makes progress. A
detailed design would be needed.
# Ethan pointed out that we could provide a general framework to have most if
not all the background tasks running in the follower.
# Swami pointed out that there could be impact to Ozone Snapshots if the
background threads run on the follower.
