Logging related to snapshots appears even when snapshots are not in use, or
snapshots are outright disabled. This is misleading, diverting time from
troubleshooting to double-check the relevance of snapshots to the problem.
We prefer not to have logging around snapshots when they are not being used,
and probably should add unambiguous messages like "Snapshots are disabled" or
similar where that can be established for clarity.
