Thanks [~ivanandika] for making the expected bar clear.
Given HDDS-15990, I agree that we should not proceed with the proposed CPU- or
request-aware scheduling logic.
I will first investigate whether the problem described by HDDS-12834 is already
addressed by RocksDB’s native automatic/periodic compaction, off-peak
scheduling, rate limiting, and background-job configuration. I will not make a
production code change as part of this investigation.
If the native mechanisms are sufficient, I will propose closing or repurposing
HDDS-12834 and separately evaluate whether CompactionService should remain.
Only if there is reproducible evidence of an unmet Ozone-specific requirement
would I bring back a design proposal, including production precedents and
reproducible benchmark results.
