HTTPFS's supported functionality does not rely on the ZK code part, but during integration we were not brave enough to just remove it, while since then we could not dig deep enough to understand what will it cause to remove it. Based on the fact that the current Hadoop trunk has a dependency on 3.6.3, I would not go up to 3.8.0 at the moment. Probably we should get rid of it, we might revisit what we have thought in [HDDS-5695](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDDS-5695) as part of a dependency cleanup effort, and separate ourselves from Curator and ZK. I filed [HDDS-9482](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDDS-9482) and planning to take a look at it.
