Requirement fit: SUPPORTED. Selected-key projection is a caller-visible read
path, and the reported full-reader measurements show a substantial improvement
for ordinary MAP storage without changing complete-MAP reads.
Implementation: CLEAN in the changed path. I traced the caller's string key
selection and checked first-match behavior for duplicate keys, null first
values, null parent MAPs, sliced arrays, nested/extension values, and the
PyArrow fallback. I found no actionable regression.
Verification on an isolated checkout (PyArrow 24): the new tests,
selected-key projection tests, and related shared-shredding reader tests passed
with ORC excluded (31 passed, 45 subtests). ORC tests are blocked locally by
PyArrow's sysctlbyname('hw.l1dcachesize') error. The benchmark predates the
exact final cleanup, so current-head performance evidence would be useful
before release.
