Closing as not planned. The behavior only happens when fileIO.delete throws, and no DROP BRANCH on a healthy filesystem produces that. Reproducing it takes an injected failing FileIO. I looked at the fix in #10238 and could not justify carrying it without a reachable path, so I am closing both. If you hit a real filesystem where delete fails silently on drop branch, reopen with the setup and I will take another look. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
